Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Anode (“Anode”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our website and desktop application (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. Anode is an AI assistant that writes, simulates, and flashes firmware for Arduino, ESP32, and ESP8266 boards.

Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address and authentication details, handled by our auth provider (Clerk). We never see or store your password.
• Billing information. Subscription status and a customer reference, handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not receive or store your full card number.
• Usage analytics. Aggregate counts of in-app actions tied to your account — e.g. app launches, prompts sent, compiles, uploads (flashes), and simulator runs — plus a “last active” timestamp, your app version, and operating system. We use this only to understand which features matter and to prioritize improvements.
• AI content. When you use the AI agent, the prompts you write and the relevant sketch code are sent to the AI provider to generate a response (see “AI processing”).
• Support & bug reports. If you submit a bug report, the message and basic technical context (app version, platform) you choose to include.

What we do not collect

Your sketches, project files, and chat history stay on your own computer — we do not store them on our servers. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your prompts or code to train our own models.

How we use information

To provide and secure the Service, process your subscription, deliver AI responses, understand and improve product usage, respond to support requests, and meet legal obligations.

AI processing

AI responses are generated by Anthropic (Claude) on our managed plan. If you choose to bring your own key, your content goes to the provider you select (Anthropic or OpenAI) under your own account. Please don't include passwords, tokens, or other secrets in prompts — treat anything you send as processed by a third party. These providers process content to return a response and under their standard API terms do not use that content to train their models.

Service providers

We share data only with providers that help us run the Service: Clerk (accounts), Stripe (payments), Anthropic and, if you opt in, OpenAI (AI processing), Vercel (hosting), and GitHub (app downloads and updates). Each processes data under its own terms.

Data retention & your rights

We keep account and usage data while your account is active. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time — email us and we'll action it. Deleting your account removes your account and usage records from our systems; billing records may be retained as required for tax and accounting.

Security

We use reputable providers and industry-standard safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, a notice in the app or by email.
